Alessandro Fodella is a researcher, educator, photographer, journalist and explorer who focuses on social issues, environmental conservation and human rights.

Combining academic experience with a practical, in the field, approach, he has researched and published on a wide range of topics, including hazardous wastes, mountains conservation, biodiversity protection, indigenous peoples and minorities’ rights, civil society participation, child labour and human trafficking.

He has worked and travelled all over the world, collaborating with governments, NGOs and international organizations, participating in expeditions from the Amazon to Siberia, studying from protected areas of Southern and Eastern Africa to human rights issues in South East Asia, with his adventures taking him from sailing in the Mediterranean to diving in Australia, from climbing in the Alps or the Jordan desert to trekking in the mountains of Ladakh, Norway and Patagonia, from exploring the jungles of Central and South America to crossing the African savannas.

His unique blend of academic expertise and extensive practical experience gives him a special insight into the issues he tackles in his documentary work.
